What is Thrive?
Thrive is created with and for care-experienced young people in Wales. It’s a place to share positive stories, celebrate achievements, and explore ideas that matter to you.
Thrive started as a magazine full of real voices and creativity from young people in care, and now it’s levelled up – digital, fresh, and made for how you want to read it. Here, you’ll find interviews, articles, videos, and opportunities made to help you learn, connect, and thrive in your own way.
We believe that being care-experienced is just one part of who you are. Everything on Thrive is about helping you feel proud, supported, and confident in who you are, because your voice deserves to be heard.
🌱 The History of Thrive
Thrive began over 20 years ago as a printed magazine made by and for care-experienced young people across Wales. It was filled with creative writing, interviews, and advice, all written by people who get it.
Over time, Thrive grew into something more, and as a result in 2025 it has become a digital space that celebrates your voices and highlights the positive things happening in care communities across Wales.
So, Thrive grew into this website: a living, breathing space where your ideas, creativity, and experiences can reach even more people. It’s still built on the same message, that young people in care have incredible things to say, and we’re here to make sure those voices are heard.
Thrive exists to make sure care-experienced young people are seen, heard, and celebrated.
🌟 Wales Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is made up of care-experienced young people from across Wales aged 14-25, where they create campaigns on issues that affect care experienced young people, as well as help guide what Thrive looks like.
YAB members share ideas, give feedback, and make decisions about what goes on the site – from the topics we feature to the people we interview.
Joining the YAB means:
- Having your voice heard on issues that matter to you
- Working with others who share similar experiences
- Building confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Helping make things better for young people in care across Wales
