Do you know your FCA from your CLA?

One of the hardest things about living in care can be the number of acronyms and abbreviations that are used. As one young person told Thrive, ‘I only found out what PA stands for last year and I’m 22 now! They should make it clear what it stands for and what they do.’

The professionals involved in your care should do their best not to use any of this jargon or these acronyms, but sometimes they slip into using it without meaning to. If it keeps happening and you don’t know what it means, you should ask the person using the jargon to explain it to you.
