If you are applying for university, it’s really important that you tick the box on your UCAS form to let the university know that you have care experience so you can get the extra support you are entitled to.

CLASS Cymru has lots of tips and advice for students in Wales with care experience on making applications, student life and graduating.

Each university will have their own process and support for students with care experience, some may include:

  • A lower entry offer
  • Additional financial support
  • Year-round place in university accommodation
Female holding text books

You can search to see what support any university in the UK offers to care experienced students on Propel in Education website.

Once you have submitted your UCAS form, the admissions team at the university will contact you to talk through the support options available to you. Many universities have the option for you to say you have care experience once the course has started, if you have not already ticked the box.
